Zig Zag Step
Zig Zag Step™ is a multi-platform step format that is
easy to teach and easy to follow. While most double and multiple
step classes utilize parallel platforms, the Zig Zag arrangement
is an inverted V formation.
The benefit is that you have the long "front" end
of the platform to work with as opposed to the short end as your
front approach. This makes adapting your existing choreography
patterns much easier - and participants also find it much easier
to follow because their visual lines are to the front of the
room rather than the sides for the majority of the workout.
The added plus is this: increase in distance = increased range
of motion = increased intensity.
Because distance and rom are the primary intensity variables
used, the recommended tempo for Zig Zag Step™ is 128 bpms
- within the existing guidelines. This means that various participant
levels can participate and enjoy this program!
This one hour video covers all of the basics of Zig Zag - set-up,
terminology, etc.. and includes a 45 minute workout with 32-count
self reversing combinations that work smoothly between Zig and
Zag.
Note - This is an "Instructor Handout on Video"
with a plain cover, originally shot as a workshop supplement,
but can be done as a workout with 2 step platforms.

Review - Cheryl S.
I bought your video and love it. I get a great workout and multi
step is so fun it makes the time go by quickly. I love taking
multi step classes at the gym but now I can do it at home too.
Your cueing is easy to follow and the combo's are cool.
Thanks again for Zig Zag
Cheryl
Review - Janice Forand:
Hi Mary;
I just finished watching your Zig Zag step video... fantastic...
I have been a group exercise instructor since 1983 and although
I feel I have "been there, done that" in the fitness
industry for many years, I was thrilled to see a video and instructor
that, after all this time, re-inspired me, motivated me, and
reflected the teaching style I use and enjoy. (I don't take myself
too seriously, but like you have lots of ideas to share and many
tricks up my short sleeves!)
What a wonderful way to spend my Sunday evening... I am truly
grateful and thank you for sharing your ideas and yourself with
other instructors....
I can hardly wait to incorporate this idea into our multiple
step class at my club.
THANKS AGAIN!
Sincerely,
Janice Forand, BA Phys. Ed.
